Goldfish Memory

How long is a goldfish's memory?

Many, including this BBC Goldfish Quiz, believe goldfish have only a three-second memory. Alas, this is incorrect. Nevertheless, we were interested to learn that if you keep a goldfish in a dark room it eventually turns white, and the correct term for a pregnant goldfish is "twit."
The Mad Scientist notes that if you tap on the tank before feeding your goldfish every day, the goldfish will eventually learn to look for food immediately after the tank-tapping. This kind of "classical conditioning" indicates goldfish have some memory.

Dr. Karl seconds that emotion, citing anecdotes of goldfish responding happily to their owner's faces, while hiding in their tiny castles when confronted with strangers. And while goldfish were domesticated in China roughly a thousand years ago, they still swim in schools, and thus have some learned social behavior.

The MythBusters TV show taught some goldfish to swim through a maze, noting that their time got better on each successive run. And an interesting response to the AnswerBag Forum describes goldfish memory as "selective" -- they have a general idea of what happened on a previous occasion, they're just not sure what. We empathize.

Solar Powered Street lamp/router/cam

A partnership between London-based sustainable development firm Kolam and Singapore-based networking expert Nex-G Systems has yielded a solar-powered WiFi router/WiMax router/surveillance cam that can be situated atop a streetlight (which is also solar-powered). The access point by StarSight uses a high gain omni antenna and a high gain parabolic antenna to provide access/security to both developed and developing regions; it is already in use in Cameroon, with plans for deployment to India, China, and Morocco.

PPC 6700 - Picture mail issue

I recently discovered that sending pictures that are taken from ppc 6700 doesnt work using Gmail. for some reason gmail thinks its a corrupt file due to having 17 more byte added to the file which changes the format of a jpg.

a bit of annoyance from this issue, i started researching this issue and seemed like all the 6700 users who use their ppc to update blogs, etc were having issues too..looking for answers i found out that if you change the option from 640 to 320 on camera which makes from large to medium size picture.. you can send it thru gmail and if you wanna preserve the same large size.. you can download this free photoshop software from here and with this software you can edit the pictures and save it a jpg format which gmail accepts. although this seems like a lot of pain. i have just decided to use a diff accnt to update my blogs and send pics to other thru my ppc..

Bluetooth Rear-view Mirror integrates Speakerphone and caller ID

If you’re determined to jabber on your cellphone while driving, there’s no shortage of devices that purport to make it easier and safer. One that seems more useful than most is this Bluetooth rear-view mirror, which includes a speakerphone and integrated caller ID display, so you can check the numbers of incoming calls with a quick glance. It may not be a perfect heads-up display, but it looks like it comes pretty close.
